Employee Master Maintenance - Additional Withholding Area

Use the Additional Withholding Area in Employee Master Maintenance to enter dependent information and additional federal and state tax withholding amounts.  The table following the window example describes the fields in this area.

Federal Dependents

Enter the number of dependents used to calculate the federal withholding amount for the employee.  (2.0 numeric)

Tip:  To manipulate the withholding calculation to always result in zero tax dollars withheld, enter 99 dependents.  This is appropriate if the employee is federally non-taxable or uses the Employee Additional Federal Withholding Amount to specify the entire withholding amount.

State Dependents

Enter the number of dependents used to calculate the state withholding amount for the employee.  (2.0 numeric)

Tip:  You can manipulate the withholding calculation to always result in zero tax dollars withheld by entering 99 dependents.  This is appropriate if the employee is non-taxable by the state or uses the Employee Additional State Withholding Amount to specify the entire withholding amount.

Status

Click one of the following Employee Status Codes in the drop-down list:  (2.0 numeric)

  • 0 - Full Time

  • 1 - Part Time

  • 2 - Temporary

  • 10 - Full Time (Seasonal)

  • 11 - Part Time (Seasonal)

  • 12 - Temporary (Seasonal)

Overhead %

Enter the percent for calculating overhead costs for this employee.  For example, if overhead is 10%, enter 10.00.  (3.2 numeric)

Note:  Leave the Employee Overhead Percent value blank if you do not use Labor Distribution.  The Labor Distribution feature requires a specific fileset and a special series of files and maintenance records.  For more information, contact NDS Technical Support.

Federal

Enter the amount of federal tax to be withheld during each payroll in addition to (or in place of) the amount calculated using the Number of Federal Dependents.  (4.2 numeric)

Note:  To manipulate the withholding calculation to use only the additional withholding amount specified here, enter 99 in the number of dependents field in the Employee Information Area.

State

Enter the amount of state tax to be withheld during each payroll in addition to (or in place of) the amount calculated using the Number of State Dependents.  (4.2 numeric)
