The Payment Amount contains the amount of the individual payment transaction. Depending on the Cash Application method you use, the payment amount can be entered manually or can be calculated by INSight.
Notes:
If you use the By Detail Cash Application method, you enter the payment amount.
If you use the By Automatic Oldest First Cash Application method, INSight calculates the suggested payment amount based on the ticket balance and displays it for your reference in the Selected Charges Amount. You must enter the actual payment amount in the Total Cash to Apply.
Calculation: Payment Amount = Ticket Balance (where the ticket balance does not exceed the total payment amount)
If you use the By Ticket Cash Application method, INSight can automatically calculate the payment amount and contractual adjustment using the Procedure Code's Allowed Amount and the Insurance's % of Allowed amount or the Procedure Code's Payment % amount. Using the appropriate percentage, INSight determines the payment and contractual adjustment by calculating off the Approved Amount and the Deductible you enter.
Calculation: Payment Amount = (Approved Amount - Deductible) multiplied by Payment % or Percent of Allowed
