The Patient Prior Approval Number is the patient's most recent Prior Approval Number (or Prior Authorization Number) assigned to their workers' compensation-related claims.
Notes:
Some insurance carriers must assign a Prior Approval Number before services are provided to the patient. If a Prior Approval Number is not obtained for the services provided, the insurance carrier may decline provider reimbursement of the submitted claims. For additional information, contact the individual insurance carriers for their Prior Approval/Authorization requirements.
If a ticket requires an Authorization Number, but the Authorization Number is not assigned, INSight uses the Prior Approval Number, (if the Workers' Compensation Form Type FT record is set).
