The Insurance Primarily Piggybacked field is used to indicate the insurance plan is piggybacked. This means the insurance plan is a secondary plan to Medicare and the insurance plan has been assigned a Medigap Number.
Example: If the insurance plan is a companion plan, like a Blue Cross Companion Plan, then it is piggybacked.
Notes:
Set this field to N(o) if this insurance plan is not a secondary plan to another insurance.
Set this field to N(o) to indicate that the insurance plan is a secondary insurance that is not piggybacked and a secondary insurance form is required.
Set this field to Y(es) if the insurance plan is piggybacked and to indicate the primary insurer sends information directly to the secondary insurer. In this case, no secondary insurance form is required.
