Use Read Variance Table Maintenance to maintain the minimum variance percentage and the maximum variance percentage allowed for the normal range of readings or usage a meter can have. This table is used to calculate the projected minimum and maximum readings/usage during the Create Export File routine of Meter Communications. The calculated minimum and maximum readings/usage will be used by the meter reading device to verify that the data collected is accurate.

The Create Export file process calculates the estimated minimum reading, the maximum reading, the minimum usage and the maximum usage to validate the readings of the hand-held meter reading device. Some hand-held devices use readings while other hand-held devices use usage.

The calculations are as follows:

Variables: Last Read = 1111, Last Usage = 1000, Minimum Variance = 45%, Maximum Variance = 130%
- Minimum Reading = LastRead + (Minimum % X usage), or 1561 = 1111 + (0.45 * 1000)
- Maximum Reading =-LastRead + (Maximum % X usage) or 2411 = 1111 + (1.30 * 1000)
- Minimum Usage = LastUsage + (Minimum % X usage) or 1450 = 1000 + (0.45 * 1000)
- Maximum Usage =-LastUsage + (Maximum % X usage) or 2300 = 1000 + (1.30 * 1000)
This table is sometimes referred to as the READ-VAR table.

Opening Read Variance Table Maintenance, click More.
1. Click Daily Work from the Menu Bar.
2. Click File Maintenance.
3. Click Table Maintenance.
4. Click Read Variance Table.
Tip: Or, use the keyboard shortcut: [ALT] [y] [m] [t] [a].

Creating the Read Variance Table, click More.

Editing an existing Read Variance Table, click More.
CAUTION: To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
1. To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.
2. Enter the data changes.
3. To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER] if the button is in focus.
  Keyboard shortcut: [ALT + s]
Deleting an existing Read Variance Table, click More.

The Delete command is not available for the Read Variance Table.

Title	Enter the title of this table. (up to 14 characters)
Description	Enter the description for this table. (up to 79 characters)
Min Variance %	Enter the percent the minimum variance can be. (6.2 numeric)
Max Variance %	Enter the percent the maximum variance can be. (6.2 numeric)
	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER] if the button is in focus. Keyboard shortcut: [ALT + s]
