Meter Series Type Maintenance

Use Meter Series Type Maintenance to group the available reading types for the types of meters and the types of meter reading devices.  This information is used during the meter export routines of Meter Communications.  For each Meter Series Type ID, you can maintain up to five codes for the different types of meter readings.

Notes:  

• Generally, Meter Series Types are set up prior to installation and will not change unless you change your meter reading devices or you switch to different types of meters.

• You assign one of the five Meter Series Type Codes to the appropriate meters during Meter Inventory Maintenance.

• Opening Meter Series Type Maintenance, click More.

   

  1. Click Daily Work from the Menu Bar.

  2. Click File Maintenance.

  3. Click Code Maintenance.

  4. Click Meter File Maintenance.

  5. Click Meter Series Type Maintenance.

  Tip:  Or, use the keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [y] [m] [c] [m] [m].

• Creating a new Meter Series Type Code, click More.

   

  To create a new record choose one of these methods:

  • Enter the new Meter Series Type Code ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]

  • Or, enter the new Meter Series Type Code ID and click File from the Menu Bar; next click New.
    Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [n]

  Tip:  To indicate that you are building a new meter series type code, New  displays near the Meter Series Type Code ID.  Default entries display and the first field is highlighted to let you know you can begin entering information.

  Meter Series Type Maintenance Prompts Tip:  To see more information about a field, click the hyperlink for the field name.
  Meter Series Type Code ID	Enter the unique Meter Series Type Code ID. (up to 10 characters) Required
  	To update the new or changed information, click Save or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + s]
  	CAUTION To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.
  	To view all of the existing meter series type codes, click Search.  From the Search list you can select the record to change or delete. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + r]
  	To display an existing meter series type code, enter the Meter Series Type Code ID and click Retrieve, or press [ENTER]. Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
  Note:  Fill in one or more reading type codes, as needed.
  Code 0	Enter the first code to identify the type of meter reading available. (up to 5 characters)
  Code 1	Enter the second code to identify the type of meter reading available, if applicable. (up to 5 characters)
  Code 2	Enter the third code to identify the type of meter reading available, if applicable. (up to 5 characters)
  Code 3	Enter the fourth code to identify the type of meter reading available, if applicable. (up to 5 characters)
  Code 4	Enter the fifth code to identify the type of meter reading available, if applicable. (up to 5 characters)

   

• Editing an existing Meter Series Type Code, click More.

   

  CAUTION:  To avoid losing data, you must save new or changed records.

  1. To display the record to be changed, enter the Meter Series Type Code ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
     Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
     
     Tip:  If you do not know the Meter Series Type Code ID, you can click Search  to see a list of meter series type codes.

  2. To position the pointer to the information that you want to change, press [TAB] or click the field using the mouse.

  3. Enter the data changes.

  4. To complete the edit process, click Save , or press [ENTER].

• Deleting an existing Meter Series Type Code, click More.

   

  1. To display the record to be deleted, enter the Meter Series Type Code ID and click Retrieve , or press [ENTER].
     Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT + t]
     Tip:  If you do not know the Meter Series Type Code ID, you can click Search  to see a list of meter series type codes.

  2. Click File from the Menu Bar, and next click Delete.
     Keyboard shortcut:  [ALT] [f] [d]

  3. At the Delete Records prompt, click Proceed to delete the record, or click Cancel to escape from the delete routine.
